Review of Chapter 1 from my POV
The chapter recounts the transformation of an individual who initially scoffs at the notion of a radiant beacon, often linked to near-death encounters. Yet, they soon find themselves drawn to a dazzling luminescence, wondering if they’ve crossed the threshold of mortality and how it came to pass. As they approach the light, they come to understand that they’re undergoing a rebirth. The story then transitions to the vantage point of a newborn, taking in the wonders of the world for the first time, encountering their parents, and receiving the name Art. The scene unfolds in an unconventional setting, evoking a sense of mystique and ritual, rather than a traditional hospital delivery, thereby imbuing the rebirth experience with an otherworldly quality. Arthur faces a familiar challenge for babies – dealing with the unpredictability of his physical movements and bodily responses. With a dash of humor, he remarks on the quirks of his reflexes and bodily processes. On a more pleasant note, he delights in nursing, praising the rich flavor and wholesome benefits of breast milk over its formula counterpart.
In a realm where magic Arthur Leywin witnesses his mother’s extraordinary healing abilities, signifying that they inhabit a world beyond the constraints of time. Alice and Reynolds, Arthur’s nurturing parents, embody kindness and compassion. The rural settlement of Ashber, where they reside, unfolds as a rustic custom of citizens. Despite his mother’s efforts to educate him in the art of language, Arthur’s weary mind surr, struggling to adapt to the unfamiliar and daunting surroundings.
In this section of the chapter, infant Arthur watches with wide eyes as his father carries out a mysterious and seemingly mystical ceremony. However, the outcome is surprisingly underwhelming, with only three large rocks materializing and colliding with a nearby tree. Misreading Arthur’s squirming as enthusiasm, his father beams with pride over his accomplishment. The narrative also subtly reveals the father’s impressive combat skills, implying that physical strength and agility are deeply respected in their world. The monetary system operates on a straightforward principle: a hundred copper pieces are equivalent to a single silver unit, and a hundred silver units are interchangeable with one gold unit. Meanwhile, Arthur is still getting accustomed to his new physical form, but he has a growing intuition that his daily routine is on the verge of being disrupted, hinting at the possibility of impending obstacles or exciting escapades.
