Review of Chapter 3 from my POV

As Alice Leywin contemplates her son Arthur’s growth, she feels a surge of pride tempered with resolute purpose. She marvels at his fiery red locks and piercing blue gaze, but she’s resolute in avoiding excessive indulgence. Rather, she strives to be a fair and firm parent, aware that her husband’s guidance might potentially mislead Arthur, particularly in light of his hasty efforts to instruct the infant in combat tactics.

As Arthur gains independence, Alice experiences a mix of pride and exhaustion due to his insatiable curiosity, especially his surprising fascination with the study, which is in stark contrast to his father’s disinterest in books. To encourage his exploration of the world, Alice starts taking him on more frequent outings to town, using the excuse of picking up fresh groceries and enhancing his learning experience.

As Alice reflects, her affection and aspirations for her child shine through, despite her lighthearted claims of not being too doting. She’s captivated by his insatiable curiosity and zest for life, especially his comical tendency to crane his neck in every direction with wide-eyed amazement, and his riveting interest in the things his father does.

Arthur Leywin has dedicated the past two years to cultivating a mana core, a challenging and time-consuming endeavor. Typically, this ability doesn’t emerge until the teenage years, as it requires a gradual accumulation of mana particles over time. However, with the mental maturity of an adult, Arthur can deliberately influence the mana within himself, a skill reminiscent of harnessing ki from his past life’s martial training. By doing so, he can expedite the process, intentionally collecting mana particles rather than relying on their natural convergence.

Arthur secretly practices gathering mana daily to avoid detection by his parents. He is uncomfortable, and his mother’s intense stare is unsettling. He speaks in basic sentences to keep his secret, especially after his first word “mama” made his mother cry. Although his training is progressing slowly, he is making good progress and was near forming a mana core when an unexpected explosion interrupted him.
